Our Honeymoon

After much consideration, we decided to spend our honeymoon at the Marquis Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico. It was absolutely perfect for us! We knew we would want to relax after the wedding festivities and spend a majority of our time by the pool enjoying fresh ceviche and a few mojitos (for me) and a Pacifico (for him.) At the time, the resort was owned by Secrets and we had only heard wonderful things about their resorts and were very pleased with our decision. (Our resort has now been taken under new ownership but after viewing the website/owner, it looks just as wonderful! Click here to check it out.)

I will admit that we did not have to do much research for our honeymoon because Andy hired a wonderful travel agent to assist with the logistics. We basically told her our budget and that we wanted to relax on the beach and she gave us a few options to pick from. We are so THRILLED that we decided to go with the Marquis Resort! It was everything that we could have asked for. The staff was super friendly, the food was fantastic and the suites were very clean with great views of the ocean! I could go on and on about our experience but I think I’ll just share a few photos instead 😉

Anna K Travel Tips:

• If you’re looking for a more budget friendly option, check out the other locations that Secrets offers. Los Cabos can be a bit pricey depending on where you are flying from because of it’s location. Cancun is a great option for those who may want to honeymoon in Mexico but may not want to travel as far! We recently stayed at El Dorado Royale Casitas Resort and it felt like a second honeymoon. I would highly recommend this resort as an option for those wanting to travel to the Riviera Maya/Cancun area. Click here to check out the El Dorado resort. It was only 25 minutes from the Cancun airport!

• You don’t just have to travel to Mexico to get the all-inclusive experience! There are many options available in the Caribbean. When looking for the perfect all-inclusive, be sure to check out the following:

  • Dreams – click here
  • Sandals – click here
  • RUI Hotels & Resorts – click here
  • Excellence Resorts – click here

• It may not always be possible to afford a lavish vacation immediately following the wedding and picking a more simplistic getaway may be the better option for you. If that is the case, here are few beach towns to consider: Charleston, SC, Seaside, FL and San Diego, CA are just a few of the many great options here in the USA. Click here for a great article about the top honeymoon destinations in the USA.

• At the end of the day, my best “tip” would be to unplug, relax and enjoy the time together as newlyweds. No matter where you are, you can create memories that you will cherish forever.
